Pakistan's Cannibal Brothers Sentenced To 12 Years In Prison

| by Jonathan Wolfe

Remember those cannibalistic brothers from Pakistan we told you about a while back? They won’t be eating anyone for a while.

Mohammad Farman Ali, 30, and Mohammad Arif Ali, 35, were both sentenced to 12 years in prison this week. This marks the second time in the last three years the two will be incarcerated for cannibalism.

The brothers were jailed in 2011 after authorities found the half-eaten remains of a woman in their house. After being released in April 2013, the men appeared to lead a relatively quiet life. But on April 14 of this year, authorities checked their house after neighbors reported an unbearably strong smell of rotting flesh coming from their house.

Sure enough, police found the skull of a child inside the house and the men admitted they used flesh from the corpse to make a curry. They were arrested on the spot.

Pakistan has no laws against cannibalism, but officials invoked other tangent laws in order to send the men to jail. The bulk of their prison sentence comes from a conviction for desecrating a grave. Police estimate the brothers dug up and ate over 100 corpses in the past.
