Joss Whedon Raises Ire With 'Dog' Insult Of Ivanka Trump

| by Denise Recalde

Popular movie director Joss Whedon has been heavily criticized for calling Ivanka Trump a Pekingese dog on Twitter.

On Jan. 24, Whedon criticized Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, who has been approved by the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel to serve as senior adviser to the president, and Kushner's wife, Ivanka.

Whedon, an unabashed critic of Donald Trump, tweeted a picture of Kushner standing behind the president in the Oval Office and wrote: "Hey, keep your eyes on this f*****g prize too. He's a Voldemort in training, & unlike the Pekingese he married under, can play the long game."

Known for creating strong female characters in shows like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," Whedon was slammed by Twitter users who did not look favorably upon the comparison, The Daily Mail reports. Both his fans and Trump supporters sought to shame him for the act, calling him "disgraceful."

One user responded with: "Kept hoping this wasn't true. As a fan it hurts that you would call any woman a dog just days after the #WomensMarch."

Yet another added: "Just so we're on the same page here. You just called Ivanka a dog because you don't agree with Trump. Classy."

"The left used to be better than this. You used to be better than this," another chipped in.

"Wow calling his wife a dog? I guess it's OK to demean women as long as you don't like them or their husbands, eh?" tweeted a follower.
