On Jan. 28, the FBI released an aerial video (below) of the Oregon State Police shooting rancher Robert "LaVoy" Finicum, who appeared to reach towards his waist or pocket before shots were fired.

In the video, Finicum tries to drive around a road block in an SUV, but veers off to the left and into a snowbank on Jan. 26.

Greg Bretzing, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Portland Division, told a press conference on Jan. 28: "Finicum leaves the truck and steps through the snow," notes Oregon Public Broadcasting.

"Agents and troopers on scene had information that Finicum and others would be armed," Bretzing said. "On at least two occasions, Finicum reaches his right hand toward a pocket on the left inside portion of his jacket. He did have a loaded 9 mm semi-automatic handgun in that pocket."

"At this time, OSP troopers shot Finicum," Bretzing added. "Approximately 30 seconds after the shooting -- law enforcement officers at the scene deployed flash bangs to disorient any other armed occupants. Over a period of several minutes agents and troopers worked to safely remove the remaining truck occupants, and to take them into custody."

The video appears to match up with Bretzing's description, but contradicts supporters of the Oregon ranchers, who told a different version. reported that Victoria Sharp, an 18-year-old woman riding in the SUV with Finicum and other men from the group, said: "He’s like, just shoot me then, just shoot me -- and they did, they shot him dead. They shot him right there, he was just walking -- I saw it. I swear to God, he was just walking with his hands in the air.”

But the video appears to show Finicum with his hands down when the shooting begins.

The Bundy Ranch Facebook page stated on Jan. 26: "Levoy Finicum was Shot and murdered in Cold blood today in Burns Oregon by the FBI and State Law enforcement. He had his hands up and was shot 3 Times. This Man Is one of the best Patriots, Husband, Father, Grandfather, friend and Neighbor, that this world will ever know. Spread this far and wide!"

Nevada Assemblywoman Michele Fiore told The Oregonian on Jan. 26 that the leader of the armed ranchers, Ammon Bundy, called his wife, Lisa Bundy, from a police car and told her that Finicum was cooperating with the cops at the time of the shooting.

John Sepulvado, of Oregon Public Broadcasting, tweeted on Jan. 28: "it's clear that what @votefiore told @OPB -- that Ammon Bundy saw Finicum get shot while he was laying on the ground, is incorrect."
