A senior executive at computer technology company Oracle has resigned in protest, for political reasons.
In his public resignation letter, George Polisner, 57, blasted the decision of Oracle co-CEO Safra Catz to join President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team, reports The Guardian.
“I began with Oracle in 1993 and was proud to work among some of the best software development and operations engineers in the world,” explained of his career with the company. “I’ve made significant contributions to Oracle along the way in my various roles ranging from consulting, product development, customer advocacy, program management and now in Cloud.”
But that was before Catz joined forces with the president-elect.

Before a meeting of tech leaders at Trump Tower before accepting the position, Catz said: “I plan to tell the president-elect that we are with him and will help in any way we can. If he can reform the tax code, reduce regulation and negotiate better trade deals, the U.S. technology industry will be stronger and more competitive than ever.”
In contrast, Polisner wrote, “I am not with President-elect Trump and I am not here to help him in any way.”
Polisner also expressed concern that Trump’s Cabinet selections would try to destroy Social Security and Medicare, and accused Trump of Islamophobia and xenophobia.
“Trump stokes fear, hatred and violence toward people of color, Muslims and immigrants,” he wrote. “It is well-known that hate crimes are surging as he has provided license for this ignorance-based expression of malice.”

The president-elect also “seeks to eviscerate environmental protections, the public education system, LGBTQ rights and women’s rights,” Polisner contends, saying Trump “disrespects Gold Star military families, women and the disabled.” Polisner also believes Trump’s economic policies would also contribute to the “alarming growth of wealth inequality in America.”
In conclusion, Polisner said of Trump: “I am here to oppose him in every possible and legal way. Therefore I must resign from this once great company.”
His letter, which was posted on Linkedin, has been read more than 150,000 times. Within the first 24 hours of posting it, he received 500 messages, of which about 90 percent supported his resignation, The Guardian reports.
