Ohio Man Ordered Not To Have More Kids Until He Pays Child Support Loses Appeal

An Ohio appeals court upheld a 2013 ruling that father-of-four Asim Taylor can’t have any more children until he pays back child support.

Taylor, 35, owes nearly $100,000 in child support for his four children.

Lorain County Probate Judge James Walther sentenced him to five years’ probation in January 2013, stating that if Taylor had another child during that time he could go to jail for one year.

If Taylor pays the $96,000 in support, the order would be dropped.

Taylor’s attorney has argued that the order is a violation of his right to reproduce.

The 9th District Court of Appeals provided no opinion when it issued its decision this week. The judges said they didn’t have enough information to decide whether the lower court ruling was appropriate and couldn’t decide the merits of the case without receiving copy of a pre-sentence report detailing Taylor’s background.
