Officials Make Arrest After Truth Comes Out Regarding Death Of 2-Year-Old Girl

An Oklahoma City man has been arrested on murder and rape complaints after a 2-year-old girl died from multiple injuries.

Police say 2-year-old Shaleah Cudjo was rushed to Children’s Hospital Sept. 3 after officers and paramedics, responding to a 911 call, found the girl not breathing. She was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital, KOTV News reports.

“They told me by the time I got here, she was already dead and there was nothing I could do,” the girl’s mother Keah Cudjo told KFOR News. “She had lost too much blood.”

Keah reportedly told police that her boyfriend, 22-year-old Justin Lawson, was at home with her daughter and had called her earlier in the day and told her that Shaleah was sick and not doing well.

Another family member, who was said to be at the home at the time, told police that the little girl was sick the night before and had been throwing up and had diarrhea, according to KFOR. That same family member added that Shaleah was sick again in the morning and eventually stopped breathing.

It is unclear who, exactly, called 911 on the Sept. 3, but investigators say they believe Lawson left the home shortly after the emergency call was placed.

Medical staff at the hospital and the medical examiner later said Shaleah had sustained internal injuries and injuries that displayed evidence of sexual assault, KOTV reports. As a result of the injuries she had lost a large amount of blood.

After further investigation, Lawson was arrested on complaints of first-degree murder and rape.

Shaleah’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money for the little girl’s funeral.
