Obama Visited The Clooneys Before Twins Were Born

| by Sheena Vasani

On May 27, former President Barack Obama visited a heavily pregnant Amal and George Clooney at their mansion in England, just a week before the two became parents.

"Obama arrived around 7:15 in the evening [local time] and left at around 11:30," an insider said of Obama's visit on May 27, People magazine reports.

"[Obama] had tons of security around him," the source added.

A little over a week later, the Clooneys captured headlines after Amal gave birth to twins,  Ella and Alexander Clooney, on June 6, reports USA Today.

This young teenage singer was shocked when Keith Urban invited her on stage at his concert. A few moments later, he made her wildest dreams come true.

"This morning Amal and George welcomed Ella and Alexander Clooney into their lives," said their spokesman, Stan Rosenfield. "Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine. George is sedated and should recover in a few days."

It's not surprising Obama paid the couple a visit. It seems they've been friendly after George met the president at a Los Angeles fundraiser, Esquire reports.

"I did a fundraiser here with him, and he said, 'What are you doing tomorrow morning?'" recalls Clooney. "I go, 'What time?' He goes, '5:30. You wanna play some hoops?' And I go, 'Yeah.' And he goes, 'All right, we’ll set it up. You got any of your friends want to play?'"

"Now I have this picture of my buddy elbowing the president," Clooney, who later attended Obama's farewell party, added. "It was really fun. He’s a good basketball player."

The former president -- and his wife -- also had good things to say about Clooney, reports The Hill. Obama had previously praised Clooney's humanitarian work, calling him a "good man and a good friend."

"He’s cute, too," added former first lady Michelle Obama.

Before visiting the Clooneys, Obama also met with Prince Harry at Kensington Palace as part of his Europe vacation, reports Vanity Fair.

The official Kensington Palace Twitter account tweeted the two "discussed support for veterans, mental health, conservation, empowering young people and the work of their respective foundations."

Obama also gave his "condolences to the victims of the Manchester attack and support for those recovering from injuries."

"Good to see my friend Prince Harry in London to discuss the work of our foundations and offer condolences to victim of the Manchester attack," Obama later tweeted.

Only a few days before arriving in London, Obama received a "rock-star" welcome from the people of Berlin, reports the New York Post. There, he gave a speech and met with Chancellor Angela Merkel.

“In this new world we live in, we can’t isolate ourselves," Obama, drawing applause for his words, said in his speech. "We can’t hide behind a wall."
