A kindergarten teacher in the western Norwegian town of Sola brought in a vial of her blood for show and tell and let as many as a dozen children taste it.

The director of the Dravhaug kindergarten, Inger Lise Andersen, said that the teacher was returning from a visit with her doctor. Apparently she asked one of the nurses at the doctor’s office if she could have some of her blood in a vial to take to class. The nurse gave it to her, Gawker reports.

When it was time for the children to have “sharing time,” the teacher pulled out the vial and poured its content onto a plate. The children then passed the plate around.

"The children asked if they could touch it and she allowed them," Andersen said. "Then they asked 'how do we get it off?' so she put her finger in her mouth and the children followed suit."

It is not known how many of the 12 children in the class tasted their teacher’s blood. The kindergarten has already sent the blood to be tested for HIV/AIDS and other blood-borne illnesses. The teacher apologized for what she had done but was fired anyway.

According to Anderson: "The parents are mortified, shaken and shocked."
