A woman from Northampton, England, wrote a thank you note to burglars after her and her boyfriend, Dan Owens, discovered that their home had been ransacked.
Kate Barrett, 36, wrote the note and pinned it to their back door after the incident. In the note, Barrett apologized to the burglars for not having much to offer because they lacked “particularly expensive tastes” and that there was “no need to come again,” msnNOW reported.
Barrett and Owens, 34, were also “disappointed” that the burglars did not pay attention to her VHS video and cassette collection.
The burglary happened Sunday evening, according to BBC News Northampton.
Popular VideoThis judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:
The couple was away for the weekend and Barrett, who is a communications officer, was the first to return home only to find it had been completely ransacked.
"I'd gone to my parents for the weekend while Kate went to London to watch the Strictly Come Dancing live show,” Owens told BBC News. “She called and I came straight over and the place had been ransacked.”
The burglars went through every room, but "there wasn't too much to take - some cash, a camera, an ipod, but nothing too major.
"I think they were planning to go out through front door with the telly, but luckily the spare key doesn't work,” Owens added. "She's a big hoarder and has all these old tapes and videos from way back when and they are welcome to those."
The burglars climbed the garden wall and smashed through the patio door to get inside the house.
Northamptonshire Police officers are still investigating the burglary. No witnesses have come forward yet.
Below is the note to the burglars in its entirety:
Thanks for popping by the other night and we're sorry we didn't have more for you to take.
As you now know, we don't have particularly expensive tastes, so there's no need to come in again, unless you would like to take my collection of VHS videos and cassettes — Dan is very disappointed you didn't take these first time round.
If you would like them, just knock on the front door and ask — no need to break another patio door as it's dreadfully hard work cleaning up all the glass.
Thanks for all the fingerprints — we really appreciated those.
Lots of love
