Movie "The Terminal" Turns into Real Life for Rodrigo Ben-Azul

| by

A Spanish man has been stuck in an airport terminal in Chile in a tale that reminds us of movie "The Terminal" starring Tom Hanks.

Rodrigo Ben-Azul has been stranded at the Santiago Airport while he waits for family members in Spain to give him money for a ticket home.

He arrived in Chile in November to "resolve a dispute" with family members who live there. After he failed at resolving the issue, he went back to the terminal and has been there for the last eight weeks. He spent New Years and Christmas there.

He said, "I am trying to return to Spain. I'm waiting for them to send me money for the ticket."

Ben-Azul has developed a daily routine at the terminal, where he pushes abandoned luggage trolleys back into their spaces so he can claim the money.

When it's time to sleep, he finds a small corner. During the day, he looks for food in dustbins and cigarette ends that he can still smoke.

When he's not doing any of these things, he is seen walking around concourses with his luggage, listening to music with his headphones.

Though movie "The Terminal" is a bit different, Tom Hanks' character Viktor Navorski is trapped in a terminal, too. He's unable to fly until the war is over in his country so he stays in the terminal for months.
