Mom Angry Over Inappropriate Jokes Made At Daughter's Drama Class Awards Ceremony

| by Dominic Kelly

A mother in Bellingham, Washington is furious after she says her 17-year-old daughter’s drama class awards ceremony took an inappropriate turn.

The mom, who wishes to remain anonymous, sent an email to KOMO News describing the situation that lead her to walk out of the auditorium in tears.

"I sat there with my mouth open in shock and the final straw was when a joke was told on stage about a teacher, a lawyer and a priest on a plane,” wrote the mother in the email. “The plane was going down and the teacher says we have to save the children. The attorney says ‘F*** the children!’ and the priest says ‘OOOOH..Do we have time for that???’”

The anonymous parents says she brought her young daughter to the awards ceremony to cheer on her teenager, who was receiving an award, but she had to leave once the inappropriate joke was made. In addition to the joke, the ceremony featured awards like “the horniest stud” which included a sex toy prize.

This judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:

"WE need to get the word out there that THIS is the kind of TRASH that is being taught in our schools,” wrote the parent. “I am so shocked right now I am in tears.”

Now, the teacher who put on the ceremony, Teri Grimes, has issued an apology, saying that she never meant to offend anybody. Grimes is a 30-year-long teacher at the school and is set to retire once this school year is complete.

"I deeply apologize for some very inappropriate comments and actions made during our drama students' end-of-the-year awards ceremony,” said Grimes. “This is not representative of our students who take such great pride in their school and respect one another. Much of the evening was a great celebration of their work. However, as a teacher and the club's leader, I take full responsibility and am extremely sorry.”

The school says that neither Grimes nor the students will face any disciplinary action, although the district is currently investigating the incident. The school principal has reportedly sat down with both Grimes and the group of drama students to talk about the ceremony, and the meeting was said to be productive.
