Model's Fashion Shoot Interrupted By Migrants Running Towards Beach (Video)

Video cameras at a model’s video shoot captured a group of alleged undocumented immigrants as they ran from a boat to the shore of Miami Beach earlier this month.

Ekaterina Juskowski was at the helm of the camera filming her friend on July 10 when she captured a boat as it came up to the shore.

She soon stopped the video before realizing that it was a group of nine immigrants jumping off of the boat and running towards land.

The Russian immigrant said she then began filming them again after she made the realization.

“That’s a testament to how confident these organizations are,” U.S. Border Patrol spokesman Frank Miller told the New Times. “[What] we call transnational criminal organizations — who smuggle criminals and narcotics right onto the beach.”

He continued, “There has been an increase in known maritime smuggling in Florida -- from Key West all along the Florida coast -- from fiscal year 2014 to now.”

According to Juskowski, who moved to the U.S. as a university student, watching the immigrants running towards the land made her “personal struggle seem rather small.”

“As controversial as the problem of illegal immigration can be for many of us, it is important to remember that people come here in search of the better life, and it comes at a very high price of great courage, hard work, and loneliness,” Juskowski told the New Times.

“I got to know America as a country with a big heart," she added. "While I trust it to the U.S. government to work out the policies on improving the immigration laws, it feels natural to stay compassionate and understanding on a personal level.”

According to experts, the event that Juskowski witnessed may have been a part of a trafficking ring that smuggles people from the Bahamas, Jamaica, and Haiti to Florida.

Since the Florida coastline is so big, “it’s impossible to cover with just border patrol agents," according to Miller.
