A 7-year-old boy was handcuffed by a police officer, who didn't have a key for the cuffs, at Brownell STEM Academy in Flint, Michigan, on Oct. 12 (video below).

"He don’t deserve to be in no handcuffs," Chrystal McCadden, the boy's mother, told Click On Detroit. "He ain’t here with no knife, he ain’t here with no gun."

The buy was reportedly disciplined by the officer at an after-school program called Youth Quest, which is operated by the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce.

McCadden claimed that she received a phone call to come pick up her son, but when she arrived at the school, the cop said that he did not have a key.

McCadden said that her son is hyperactive and has ADHD, but is not violent and told her that he kicked a cart, not another classmate.

The child was finally freed from the handcuffs when two other officers came to the school.

The Flint Police Department said in a statement to WEYI: "An officer was dispatched to Brownell STEM Academy in response to an urgent call for immediate assistance with a child who appeared intent on injuring himself, as well as repeatedly assaulting others."

The Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce wrote on its Facebook page on Oct. 30: "We take the safety of our students very seriously. Recently, there was an incident at one of our YouthQuest sites that ended with a student being placed in handcuffs by an on-site police officer."

"We do not condone any physical interaction with our students and are glad to see that the police department is conducting an investigation. We hope that measures are put in place to ensure something like this does not happen again."
