Michael Brown’s parents appeared on NBC’s Today show and responded to a grand jury’s decision not to indict Darren Wilson for the shooting death of their son. During the interview, Savannah Guthrie asked Brown’s mother, Lesley McSpadden, if she regretted the fact that her husband riled up the crowd after the grand jury’s decision was announced.
“I want to show it to you,” Guthrie said. “In the video we see your husband, what appears to be stirring up the crowd. Take a look at it.”
The video then showed Brown’s stepfather, Louis Head, saying that protesters should “burn this b**ch down.”

“He was just emotional,” McSpadden replied. “I don’t feel that he stirred the crowd. The crowd was already stirred. It’s been stirring since Aug. 9.”
McSpadden then added that if anyone should be blamed for what has transpired in Ferguson over the past two days it is Gov. Jay Nixon.
“That comes from a higher power, elected official and it’s called the governor,” she said.
“They stirred the pot. They had everyone on edge. They had everyone in the uproar and had the city on edge, basically, since Aug. 9.”
