Protesters, some armed, from around the country have descended in Nevada to support rancher Cliven Bundy whose cattle have been illegally grazing on federal government land for 20 years.
“We have hundreds of people here standing behind us,” Bundy’s daughter Bailey Logue recently told The Los Angeles Times. “We’re letting these federal people know that the Bundy family is not the only ones who care what happens to this land."
Bundy is also getting support from the conservative media.
According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, right wing radio host Pete Santilli told his audience on Monday to go to Nevada, support Bundy and "fight" to the "death" (audio below).
Popular VideoThis young teenage singer was shocked when Keith Urban invited her on stage at his concert. A few moments later, he made her wildest dreams come true.
"Is it time now, at this point in time, if this is not the issue, right now!" said Santilli. "Where we stand and fight to the absolute, and I say, death! There is no other option! The federal government must get out of the state of Nevada, with respect to that 600,000 acre ranch, they must leave. We want that to be done peacefully. If they don’t want it to happen peacefully, it is gonna be by their choice."
"Ladies and gentlemen, when I say, I’m calling upon every single American anywhere in the vicinity of Clark County, pool your money together, fill up your gas cans, get your cameras," added Santilli. "If you’re in Nevada and you can legally carry, get weapons out there, OK? We’re going to stand and fight in Clark County, Nevada! They will leave or else!"
MediaMatters.org noted that conspiracy theorist Alex Jones suggested on his radio show, with Bundy, there might be violence (audio below).
"This could be how the shot heard round the world happens in this case or others that are happening," said Jones. "If they ever fire on innocent peaceful people trying to take stolen cattle and act like the mercenaries they are, this could turn into 1776 very quickly."
Bundy added, "Yeah, and we're totally disgusted with this type of government and I don't think we the people are going to stand it, and I'm not going to stand it, I'm going to stand as long as it takes and do whatever it takes to get this."
