A woman in Vicksburg, Mississippi, recently caught the largest alligator ever found in the state while on a hunting trip.

Tiffany Wienke said she has seen alligators reaching up to 10 or 11 feet in the past, but nothing like the 13-foot one she caught on a trip to the Bayou Pierre on Aug. 27 (pictured below), WLBT reports.

"We're completely content with the fact that this will probably be the biggest alligator that we'll ever catch, Wienke said. "It's not gonna keep us from going back. But we're completely happy with this."

Wienke, who was on the trip along with her husband and four others on the boat, said it took two hours to subdue the 686-pound gator.

"He ran us -- literally crashed us into some trees, and bank-to-bank. He was pulling this boat full of people like it was nothing."

The gator was caught on a 20-foot boat with its head curled up on one corner, and the tail reached all the way to the other side of the vessel, giving an idea of its size.

Wienke had only been gator hunting three times before.

Mississippi's Alligator Program Coordinator Ricky Flynt says that there are likely even larger gators out there.

"There's definitely other alligators out there that can exceed this. It won't surprise me to see an alligator in the 14- to 15-foot range at some point."
