A 29-year-old former teacher at a Milwaukee school received a two-year prison sentence after having sexual relations with a student when he was 16 and 17-years-old
Sara Domres pleaded guilty to the 2015 encounters in August, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
The student said he was in Domres’ English class during the 2014-15 school year. They began texting each other, and sent more than 1,000 messages between April 2015 and January 2016.
The more than a dozen sexual encounters began in July 2015. In October 2015, Domres reserved a room at a local motel where the two met for sex on the night of her partner’s bachelor party.

On another occasion, Domres’ husband reportedly found the teacher and her student having sex, and a verbal confrontation resulted.
Domres was told that the charges against her would normally have been misdemeanors, but because she was a teacher, they were upgraded to felonies. This was because of the trust placed in teachers and the fact that they ought to be looked up to by their students.
“I don’t know how much brighter the line could be,” said Assistant District Attorney Ted Szczupakiewicz. “There’s no grey area. It’s an absolute.”
Domres gave a statement to the court in which she argued the public coverage of the case and the loss of her job meant that the consequences of her actions "have been enforced ten-fold.”

But Judge Lee Dreyfus rejected the idea that Domres had merely made an error in judgment.
“It was to meet your needs, and not those of a child,” he said.
A report of the police investigation includes notes passed between Domres and the student, WDJT reports.
“We will have to plan something soon,” one note read, according to WDJT. “I want a night again. Xoxo.”
“Yes! Definitely soon,” was the response. “I really want another night with you too baby boo!”
Domres also sent the student selfies while on her honeymoon.
Domres will be placed on extended supervision for three years after her two-year prison sentence. If she breaches a series of conditions, including by making contact with the victim, then she could face three years of probation, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
