Actress Marion Cotillard is said to be "devastated" by the rumors she was the one who caused the split between actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt on Sept. 15 after two years of marriage and 14 years together, citing irreconcilable differences. Rumors quickly started swirling that Cotillard was having an affair with Pitt following the filming of their upcoming movie, "Allied," in which their chemistry has been referred to as "electric."

“Marion and Guillaume [Canet] are blissfully happy, and these kind of claims are not what Marion wants to be hearing,” a source close to Cotillard told the Daily Mail. “Claims that she’s cheating on Guillaume with Brad will leave her absolutely devastated. This doesn’t sound like her at all.”

A separate source told Page Six that Jolie hired a private detective to determine whether Pitt was having an affair. Ultimately, the supposed revelation of the affair prompted her to file for divorce.

This judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:

“She hired a private eye because she felt that he was fooling around with her on the set, and it turns out, he was. And that was the final straw,” the source said.

The detective also allegedly discovered Pitt was partying off-set as if he were a single man.

“The atmosphere [off-set] was full of hard drugs and Russian hookers, and Angie was told Brad got caught up in it,” the source said. “He’s in the throes of some insane midlife crisis, and Angie is fed up.”

In a statement to People magazine, Pitt said he was trying to focus on his children amid the divorce and scandal.

“I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids,” the statement read. “I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."

Jolie also released a statement confirming the split.

“This decision was made for the health of the family,” the statement, written by Jolie’s attorney, read. “She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time."

Cotillard has not spoken out herself on the allegations.
