| by Jonathan Wolfe

The Fourth of July is coming up, which means it’s time to break out your red, white and blue attire and get patriotic.

At some point on Friday, probably when that one uncle has had a few too many (American!) beers, someone will probably burst into their favorite song about America. What song will it be? There’s a bunch of gems to choose from: R.O.C.K. in the USA, Keep on Rockin’ in the Free World, God Bless the USA – you know the crowd.

If you’re interested in guessing what your fellow patriots might be belting out on Friday, check out this map. Spotify’s Paul Lamere used the music service’s database to find out what each state’s favorite song about America is.

The results are pretty neat, except for one thing. "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus is the top song in three states. Why in the world would that ever be the case? I'm looking at you, North Dakota, Maine and New Hampshire.
