Man Uses Coke Bottles To Propose To Girlfriend

| by Amanda Schallert

A man proposed to his girlfriend last week by using Coca-Cola bottles with words written across them to say “Beautiful” “Eloise” “Will” “You” “Marry” “Me.”

Donnie McGilvray posted a picture of the bottles in his fridge to the Coca-Cola Facebook page and wrote that “I asked my girlfriend, Eloise, to put the milk away in the fridge and this is what she saw. The ‘ice’ was in the glass. Thanks Coca-Cola for all the help……….she said yes!!!”

The photo received more than one millions likes on Facebook and was shared about 50,000 times. The post almost looks like a Coca-Cola advertisement – an example of consumers marketing products for large brands.

A day after McGilvray posted the picture, Coca-Cola responded with a post congratulating the couple, showing two bottles with the names Donnie and Eloise on them.

Coca-Cola officials have confirmed that McGilvray ordered the bottles using a personalized label page.

“All of us at Coca-Cola would like to extend our huge congratulations to Donnie and Eloise on their engagement. We were thrilled to see that Donnie used our personalised iconic glass bottles in such a special and romantic way. That is exactly what Share a Coke is all about,” Coca-Cola told BuzzFeed.
