A 28-year-old man was reunited with his father an incredible 24 years after he was kidnapped at a market in China and sold to a couple who wanted to raise a child.

Sun Bin was four years old when he was snatched up at a market in Chengdu and sold to his adoptive parents, who lived about 1,000 miles away in Xuzhou, for just £250, reports the Daily Mail. His father, Ku, 45, worked at the market selling vegetables and he and his mother, Lo, reportedly traveled around China for the next four years searching for their son.

“I had been working selling vegetables in a food market in Chengdu and had taken him with me,” Ku recalled. “I was dealing with a customer and when I looked round he had gone. All I had left of him was this photo taken during the mid-autumn festival, when he was 4 years and 15 days old. My wife and I travelled everywhere, and she became sick with worry over the years. She used to suffer from blackouts and I believe it was part of the reason that she eventually died before her time.”

The couple eventually had another baby – a daughter – and stopped looking for Sun Bin. But Ku says his wife died in 2011, of a “broken heart.”

This judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:

Sun Bin, meanwhile, says he grew to love his adoptive parents, but that there was always a divide between them because he knew they had paid money to rip him away from his biological family. He says he began searching for Ku and Lo in 2010 and supplied a DNA sample to a government-backed database to aid in his search.

To his shock, he found a match and has been able to reunite with his father and the younger sister he never knew he had.

Police from Chengdu say they are investigating the matter and have arrested a suspect and accomplices who may be connected to Sun Bin’s abduction.

Not wishing to hurt either his biological father or adoptive parents, Sun Bin reportedly said he will look after them both.
