Woman's Dog Suffers From Severe Burns After Ex-Boyfriend Splashes It With Hot Water

| by Emily Smith

A dog suffered severe burns after her owner’s boyfriend poured hot water on the animal in a suspected revenge attack.

Mariah Facca, the dog’s owner, was breaking up with her now ex-boyfriend, Alain Williams, on Sunday when he told her he had poured hot water on her dog at his home. After Facca called police, the one-year-old dog was rushed to the vet’s office and treated for second degree burns.

“It hurts a lot. I don’t want nothing to happen to my dog,” Facca said. “I love her so much.”

Vets reported that they are concerned for the dog’s organs, which may fail as a result of the burns. If she does recover from the damage, which covers 30 to 40 percent of her body, she may need extensive care.

“It’s horrible, you know,” Facca said. “She doesn’t even have any fur. She used to love going in the water.”

The dog will need her bandages changed every day for 30 to 90 days, according to the vet. Her medical costs in total are expected to exceed $10,000, which Facca cannot afford.

Williams was charged with one count of tormenting, depriving, mutilating or killing a dog. He also faces charges regarding his behavior after he threatened to kill police officers at the station and had to be tasered. On Monday, a judge set Williams’ bond for $86,000.
