A UK man claims to have found remains of a mermaid washed up on the beach.
Paul Jones shared photos he took at the beach online showing what he believes may be the remains of a mermaid in the coastal town of Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, the Daily Mail reports.
"Today at Great Yarmouth we found what looks like a dead mermaid washed up on the beach," Jones wrote in a Facebook post, accompanied by the photos he took of the mysterious findings.
Popular VideoThis young teenage singer was shocked when Keith Urban invited her on stage at his concert. A few moments later, he made her wildest dreams come true.
The midsection of the body in the photos appears to be decaying, while the head and tail are relatively intact.
Some believe Jones may have spotted the actual remains of a mythical mermaid. Others are more skeptical and believe the "mermaid" in the photos may actually be the remains of a seal, of which there are many in the area.
Jones' Facebook page shows that he is a modeler and a member of the "Horror and Halloween DIY" group, leading some to believe Jones himself created the remains and placed them on the beach, the Daily Mirror reports.
