Man Attempts Suicide By Jumping of Empire State Building, Lands on 85th Floor and Survives
A man's life was saved after security guards at the Empire State Building talked him out of jumping from the 85th floor.
The man had already jumped from the 86th to the 85th, but landed on a ledge. Two men saw him sitting with his feet dangling.
Luis Ariel Jofre and Juleta Paola Barambones, two tourists from Argentina, said he looked like he was calm.
"He was calm looking down, like it was nothing, but it was like 80 stories high," Jofre said.
"He was in his own world, like he was lost."
Fortunately, the security guards were able to convince the man not to jump.
"We're relieved that he didn't die," Jofre said.
The man suffered from a broken ankle, and is facing trespassing charges for being on the 85th floor.
