A Tennessee man who was hit with a drunk-driving charge in May was wearing a white skirt, pink leggings -- and a chastity device locked around his penis.
Curtiss Eidam, 35, was allegedly drunk when he pulled up to the drunk-driving checkpoint in his blue Toyota Tundra, according to police records obtained by The Smoking Gun. So was his passenger, a 44-year-old woman that the report identifies as his girlfriend.
Police said they smelled alcohol, so they asked the 230-pound Eidam to step out of the truck. In addition to the skirt and leggings, Eidam was wearing black high-heel shoes and "some kind of mesh see-through hose" with a ribbon attached to his goatee, Investigator Bobby Joe Higgs of the Anderson County District Attorney General's office told the Knoxville News-Sentinel.
Cops asked Eidam to perform a series of field sobriety tests -- which he allegedly failed -- before arresting him and preparing to take him back to headquarters, the Smoking Gun report says. The Tennessee man eventually admitted he had "four or five" shots in the hours before he got in his car, and told police he had 9mm handgun in the central console of the truck.
But before officers took him away, Eidam had one more surprise -- he told them he was wearing a chastity device locked to his penis, and asked the officers to retrieve the keys that would unlock it. One of the keys was on his keychain in the Tundra, the Smoking Gun report said, while the second key was attached to a necklace worn by his girlfriend.
An officer retrieved the keys and gave one to staff at the Anderson County Jail, where Eidam was held.
Eidam was charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of a handgun while under the influence. He's scheduled for a preliminary court hearing on July 12. His girlfriend was not charged.
