Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, who dropped out of the GOP presidential race in January 2016, has roasted his fellow candidates during a brutally comedic speech. The senator declared that his party “has gone bats--- crazy” (video below).

On Feb. 25, during the Washington Press Club Foundation’s annual gathering, an event that encourages jokes and self-deprecation, Graham took to the podium and proceeded to be “peak Lindsey,” The Washington Post quipped.

The senator began with a back-handed compliment to Democratic presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, declaring that “the most dishonest person in America is a woman who is about to be president.”

Graham, who stumped for former Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida in the last stages of his presidential bid, then pondered how “the most dishonest person in America” could be elected president.

His conclusion?

“My party has gone bats-- crazy,” Graham said, the crowd erupting into laughter.

The senator proceeded to blast each of the GOP candidates for the presidency, even making a crack about murdering Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, CBS News reports.

“If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody could convict you,” Graham remarked, his morbid diss a commentary on Cruz’s unpopularity in Congress.

Turning to Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, Graham sarcastically referred to the 44-year-old politician as “the boy wonder.” He riffed on Rubio’s gaffe in 2013 when he awkwardly reached for a water bottle while giving a rebuttal to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address.

“The Secret Service main job when he’s [Rubio] president is to keep him hydrated,” he cracked.

The senator reserved his greatest scorn for GOP front-runner Donald Trump, who he predicted would secure the nomination but fail spectacularly in the general election.

“Because he’s just generally a loser, as a person and a candidate,” Graham said. The senator fitted a “Make America Great Again” cap on his head, admitting that he would still vote for Trump, joking that Republican voters had “bought a ticket on the Titanic, after we saw the movie.”

Graham slammed Trump for not releasing his tax returns, adding that “anytime [former Gov.] Mitt Romney [of Massachusetts] thinks you should turn over your taxes, we’ve probably given him [Trump] a pass.”

Earlier on Feb. 25, Graham told CNN that the GOP had failed to properly vet Trump’s financial history.

“We as Republicans should not accept that this man has a tainted financial past,” Graham said of the business mogul’s refusal to release his tax returns. “It’s clear to me he doesn’t want to show us his financial situation.”
