Kindergartener Gets Sent Home Crying In Her Underwear, Father Outraged To Learn Why

| by Charles Roberts

A family is angry and seeking answers after their 6-year-old daughter was sent home from school wearing nothing but a soiled shirt and a pair of underwear.

"My kid don't want to go to school, my kid don't want to ride the bus," said the girl's father, Raymond McCurdy.

The girl goes to Bellterre Elementary School in Palm Coast, Florida, reports WALA.

McCurdy said his daughter got off the bus one day in tears, holding a bag of soiled clothing.

"I was upset," the father said. "I was mad. What happens if my kid would have gotten touched by somebody?"

The parents found out shortly after that the 6-year-old was in class when she raised her hand to go to the restroom. Her teacher allegedly ignored her, and the girl soiled herself.

"She has medical issues and when she has to go, she has to go," McCurdy said.

The father said his daughter has had accidents previously, but that she was always sent home fully clothed. This time was different. McCurdy said that the school never called him or asked if he could pick her up.

When his daughter came home from school that day, McCurdy immediately went to the school and spoke to the assistant principal.

"[I asked] her why my daughter was sent home in just panties and a T-shirt," he said. "She begins to tell me, 'We thought she had a long enough shirt to be able to put her on the school bus and send her home.'"

The father said he was outraged by the response and wants the school to do something so that no other child has to go home feeling humiliated that way again.

"This school is where we're supposed to trust our kids," McCurdy said. "You have our children. If I can't trust the school, who can I trust?"

A representative of the school board called McCurdy regarding the incident and informed him the incident is under investigation. The school district said it is also investigating.

Readers shared their thoughts on the story on the Mad World News Facebook page.

"Poor kid!" One reader commented. "School was wrong. Wonder if they were aware of the medical condition she has?? Doesn't really matter though, never should have humiliated her that way. Go after school Dad!!"

"The school is so wrong here," another user wrote. "If a child has an accident it should be treated just that way and substitute clothing should be available. That is enough shame and embarrasing enough. I side with the father."
