A woman who is the daughter of a wealthy New York real estate mogul was arrested with her boyfriend for dealing heroin in a police sting.
Katheryn Kalikow, 27, is the daughter of Peter S. Kalikow, whose fortune is up to $1 billion. He was head of the Metropolitan Transit Authority, once ran the Port Authority of New York and also is a former owner of the New York Post.
Kalikow was arrested with her boyfriend Brian Whalen, 28, when they advertised heroin on Craigslist as “high quality diesel pain relief.” Undercover police emailed them and set up a time to meet to sell the drugs for $440.
Officers met with them in the Bronx near Fordham University.
When Whalen and Kalikow arrived, they were driving a blue Volkswagen. Undercover police officers approached them and Kalikow said, "I have the dugs. He's my boyfriend and I was holding on to it for him."
In the Craigslist ad, the couple advertised the drugs as "stamps, diesel, H train, dope, bundles, tickets, dog food," which are all slang names for heroin.
Officers found three bags with ten small baggies of the brown powder in their car.
Kalikow and Whalen are charged with possession of drugs with intent to deliver and possession.
It seems Whalen was not discreet about his drug selling job, as he uploaded a picture on his Facebook of six different varieties of marijuana.
His lawyer, Marvin Raskin, said he has pleaded not guilty and has been released from jail.
Both Kalikow and Whalen are graduates of the private university Vasser.
