Reality TV star Kim Kardashian was reportedly robbed at gunpoint on Oct. 2 at her Paris apartment by assailants disguised as police, prompting her husband Kanye West to walk off stage in the middle of a concert (video below).

West abruptly ended his performance at the Meadows Music and Arts Festival in Queens, New York, when he was informed of the news, reports The Guardian. While performing his hit song “Heartless,” he suddenly stopped and told the audience, “I’m sorry, there’s a family emergency, I have to stop the show.”

The alleged robbery occurred at the Hotel de Pourtales, a private apartment where Kardashian was staying. The building is popular with the rich and famous, and Leonardo DiCaprio, Madonna and Prince are among those who have taken up residence there.

Paris police said the robbery was committed by five armed men who escaped on bicycles, according to The Associated Press.

The robbers, who were wearing masks and fake police armbands, arrived at about 3 a.m. on Oct. 2 and reportedly handcuffed the building’s concierge, then ordered him to show them where Kardashian was staying. After forcing their way into the apartment, they allegedly tied her up and locked her in the bathroom, then fled the scene after making off with jewelry worth millions.

Kardashian's spokesperson Ina Treciokas told the Daily Mail: “Kim Kardashian West was held up at gunpoint inside her Paris hotel room this evening by two armed masked men dressed as police officers. She is badly shaken but physically unharmed.”

According to police, Kardashian left France early on Oct. 3 after giving a statement. In Paris, Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet, leader of the opposition Les Republicains party, blamed the Socialist party for the incident, notes the Guardian.

Kardashian had been in Paris for fashion week, and was seen sitting in the front row at the Givenchy show, with her sister Kourtney and their mother, Kris Jenner. Kim’s half sister, Kendall Jenner, was one of the models.

The Meadows festival where Kanye was appearing boasts “the very best in hip hop, electronic, indie rock and more,” including “a four stage festival experience that is enhanced by a carefully curated food program, artisanal cocktail offerings, graffiti art installations, and more,” according to the official website.
