Marine Corps Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi knew he was in trouble when he missed his freeway exit on the way to visit friends in Southern California and wound up in Tijuana. The Afghanistan war veteran, who is supposed to be undergoing treatment for PTSD at a San Diego facility, has been imprisoned in Mexico for six weeks on weapons possessions charges.
TheBlaze obtained audio from Tahmooressi’s last-resort 911 call. In it, the anxiety is evident in the 25-year-old vet’s voice as he tells the 911 operator, “The problem is I crossed the border by accident and I have three guns in my truck and they’re trying to take my guns from me.”
Tahmooressi told U.S. officials and media that he had three legally owned firearms in his car at the time of his arrest. The audio seems to confirm that story.
The operator then can be heard asking, “So you’re in Mexico?”

“Yeah,” Tahmooressi responds.
“There’s nothing I can help you with sir. I do apologize,” is the operator’s blunt reply.
“I’m not sure if I’ve crossed yet,” Tahmooressi says desperately, explaining that he couldn’t find a “turn around point.”
The veteran’s mother, Jill Tahmooressi, along with United States Rep. Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) have been pressuring the U.S. government to put more pressure on Mexico to release Tahmooressi.

“I spoke with him by phone and he is more worried about me and that he’s hungry,” his mother told TheBlaze on Tuesday. “I need to stay here and fight for him and I have no one that can go there and visit him or bring him food. I’m terrified for my son but I’m not going to give up the fight.”
