Ivanka Trump Taking Leave Of Absence From Businesses

| by Lauren Briggs

President-elect Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka, will temporarily leave her and her father's companies to focus on work in Washington, D.C.

"When my father takes office as the 45th President of the United States of America, I will take a formal leave of absence from The Trump Organization and my eponymous apparel and accessories brand," she posted on her Facebook page on Jan. 11. "I will no longer be involved with the management or operations of either company."

In her stead, Abigail Klem will serve as president of Ivanka's fashion company, managing its day-to-day business operations. Klem has worked previously as the company's chief brand officer, notes IvankaTrump.com. Ivanka and her father will also step down from their prominent positions in Trump Organization, and her brothers, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, will assume leadership positions in the interim.

"I'm grateful for the overwhelming amount of outreach I've received from people all across America who have shared their stories and offered to extend their ideas and expertise in the areas I am deeply passionate about, including the education and empowerment of women and girls; leveling the playing field for female entrepreneurs and job creators and unleashing the potential of women in the workplace," she added. "I am eager to hear more from them as I determine the most impactful and appropriate ways for me to serve our country."

Ivanka will move to Washington, D.C. with her three children and her husband, real estate investor and developer Jared Kushner, who will serve as senior adviser to the president. Ivanka said she will take some time away to help her children adjust to new schools and a new home.

"Thank you to those of you who've lent your voices and perspective," Ivanka added. "To those of you I've yet to meet, I look forward to working with you and for you."
