A bride in India called off her marriage just before the wedding was set to begin because her husband-to-be failed a simple math question.
Mohar Singh, a resident of the Rasoolabad village, reportedly arranged for his daughter, Lovely, to marry Ram Baran. But just before the wedding, Lovely announced that she had called off the marriage.
Lovely reportedly asked Baran what the sum of 15 and 6 was, to which he replied, "17." She immediately canceled the marriage following his response.
“Just before the marriage ceremony Lovely came to know that Ram Baran is illiterate and she refused to marry,” a police officer said.

Police were called to mediate between the two families after the wedding was canceled and the groom’s family tried to convince the bride to reconsider, but she ultimately refused. Singh said the groom and his family “kept us in the dark about his poor education.”
It is common for arranged marriage couples to spend little to no time with one another before tying the knot, BBC notes.
