“There were no bruises on the man who we believe is between the ages of 45 to 50,” St. Clair Shores Police Detective Jay Cohoe told the Macomb Daily. “We are talking to business owners in the area in an attempt to identify him.”

“We believe the man was homeless,” added Detective Cohoe. “He had some gift cards on his person from a local church, and we are checking with the people there to see if they knew him.”

CBS Detroit reports that the homeless man's remains were very decomposed, leading authorities to believe that he may have been dead for months.

A city worker discovered the body when he forced open the door to the portable toilet. The boat launch area had been closed since October 2013.

The man was wearing a button-up shirt and a hoodie.
