A Nashville sports anchor was fired from his position after paying tribute to Prince during a broadcast (video below).
WZTV sportscaster Dan Phillips paid homage to music legend Prince April 21, the day the musician passed away, by incorporating his lyrics into a broadcast.
Unfortunately for Phillips, the tribute cost him his job.
According to Awful Announcing, Phillips wrote in a Facebook post that he was let go from his position at the news station because his employers felt the tribute was "insensitive."
"First of all, I want to thank everyone for the kind words, comments and positive feedback on this tribute I did to Prince last week. It really means a lot," Phillips wrote on Facebook, according to Raw Story. "Unfortunately, there were apparently some viewers, as well as management at the station, who did not feel the same way. They felt I was insensitive. And as a result, I was terminated today."
Phillips' bio was removed from the WZTV website and he deleted his Twitter account following his termination.
