A tense standoff between police and Occupy demonstrators at the University of California, Davis on Friday ended with cops using pepper stray on students who were sitting passively on the ground.

They apparently refused a police order to move, so cops took action.

In a statement, UC Davis chancellor Linda P.B. Katehi seemed to blame the students, saying, "We deeply regret that many of the protestors today chose not to work with our campus staff and police to remove the encampment as requested. We are even more saddened by the events that subsequently transpired to facilitate their removal."

They are trying to provoke a confrontation. Personally, I would have just directed some firemen to soak them with nice cold water from fire hoses.

So the article would be about water. They wanted to be attacked.

Why are they sitting and protesting? These are not sit ins where the point was to stay seated. This is a protest about ...well nothing. Moving shouldn't be a problem. They should have moved. I don't feel sorry for them. These are the kind of people that have the same pain mentality like those that strap bombs to themselves. They sacrifice their well being for the movement...meaning that they knew what was coming and decided it'll be worth it. Don't give them too much credit for that idea. Since they don't have much to defend.
