Video: Rep. Ted Yoho Says Citizens Should Have the Same Weapons as U.S. Military

| by Michael Allen

Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL) recently told Shark-Tank.net that he agreed with his constituents who believe that the Second Amendment allows ordinary citizens to have access to the same weapons that the U.S. military uses (video below).

Rep. Ted Yoho said: "On guns, [my constituents] were saying that the sentiment, when you read the Second Amendment, is that the militia had the same equipment as the military to protect them against the tyrannical government. I think it’s more important today than ever, that we uphold our Second Amendment."

However, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2007 (District of Columbia v. Heller) that Congress may prohibit citizens from carrying “dangerous and unusual weapons.”
