Video: Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' Interview with Diane Sawyer

| by Michael Allen

In an interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer (video below), Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), alongside her husband, Mark Kelly, recalled the moment she realized others had died in the January gun attack.

When her husband skipped a paragraph in an article about her recovery, Giffords, still in bed, pointed at the newspaper, specifically at the sentence: “Six were dead.” “

A lot of people died,” she told Sawyer, “I cried… Sad.”

Much of the segment veered away from the important details and focused on lighter fare such as a possible vacation to Africa, football and the couple's first date.
