A new video released by George Zimmerman’s defense team shines a different light on what happened the night he shot and killed Trayvon Martin.
In this never-before-seen clip, Zimmerman can be seen giving authorities a play-by-play account of what transpired before, during and directly after the Feb. 26 confrontation that ultimately led to him shooting an unarmed teen.
According to the Florida neighborhood watch volunteer’s version of events, Martin allegedly reached for his weapon while the two were brawling on the sidewalk – and that’s why Zimmerman drew his gun and fired.
The video also clearly shows bandages on Zimmerman’s head, reinforcing the point that he and his supporters had been making from the beginning – he was on the receiving end of some punishment that night. In a recently-released written statement, Zimmerman made it a point to note that Martin had repeatedly slammed his head into the sidewalk, ultimately making him feel like his head was going to “explode.”
According to Zimmerman, after he shot Martin, the teen said to him: “You got me,” before falling back.
