Advocates on both sides of the gun control debate spoke out at the first of three town halls hosted by Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA) in Napa, California on Tuesday night.
The Napa Valley Register reported that “55 people had signed up to speak, and the forum ran over its allotted time of an hour and a half.”
An overflow crowd of 200 spilled into the hallways. The last time crowds showed up in large numbers it was about health care.
KGO-TV reported on the tense atmosphere, but stated that both sides spoke at length at the town hall without any violence.
Thompson has two more gun violence town halls before he returns to Washington D. C. and begins setting up hearings on gun control.
