Video: Ann Coulter Says "Negroes" Should Get Guns, Join NRA
In a recent column entitled 'Negroes with Guns,' Ann Coulter wrote that Trayvon Martin’s shooting is the reason why black people should join the NRA and arm themselves against the “Democratic Ku Klux Klan.”
Coulter wrote: “We don’t know the facts yet, but let’s assume the conclusion MSNBC is leaping to is accurate: George Zimmerman stalked a small black child and murdered him in cold blood, just because he was black."
“If that were true, every black person in America should get a gun and join the National Rifle Association, America’s oldest and most august civil rights organization.”
On Thursday, Coulter told Fox News host Bill O’Reilly that “gun control laws have been used historically to keep guns out of the hands of blacks” (video below).
Going back decades, Coulter said: “It was the Republican Party and the NRA that has always supported arming blacks in order to protect themselves from the Democratic Ku Klux Klan."
Coulter did not name any Democrats in the present who are members of the KKK.

In the broader view, Ms. Coulter is essentially correct. *All* US citizens have, above and beyond any law, rule or policy the right of self protection: to include all rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights and all other human practices deemed good and proper by society.
How those rights are practiced is the concern of law enforcement.

Guns in the black community
Guns in the black community have been sooooo helpful. Black on black crime is one the highest per capita crime rates in the country. Gang violence, social and economic pressures, bad schools... ya... the ghetto is the best place ever to add more guns.
Lack of education, poverty, and high population densities lead to the highest crime rates. Better policing, more community involvement, and better schools are what lead to lower crime rates.
The lowering of the crime rate from 1993 to now is a direct product of better policing and longer sentences for violent criminals. The impact of guns is a wash. It is a constitutionally protect right, so it won't go away. It is a constitutional right for people to espouse racist views as well, but that's not a good idea either.
I belong in a zoo? How unamerican of you... Rather than argue, you have to threaten and insult. Typical right wing moron speak.
So, just what has 40 + years
So, just what has 40 + years of the "Great Society", with all of the *trillions* of taxpayer dollars done for these people?
The bottom line is that *no* perpetual charity will work. That is why the work-fare in many states not only has worked, but has reduced both the welfare and unemployment rolls over time.
Both practically and statistically, firearms are for a narrow usage purpose. A purpose for which there is no substitute when any citizen is accosted by one or more thieves completely intent on taking all that you have by force.

A few years ago, US News and World Report ran an article on just this topic. The conclusion is that when the police and citizens participate in active cooperation with each other, the crime rate in that area drops precipitously.

It seems that for you, firearms ownership and use are little more than a passing interest or hobby. For quite a few, this may be true. However, there *are* people who care nothing for you, your family, what standing you have in the community, who you know, what you have accomplished in life. *All* these people care about is what can be taken from you for their benefit alone.
If you threaten them with the police, no problem. Someone will find your dead body sooner or later. Or you may be beaten to a pulp. Sure you can file a report with the police later: What makes you think that the police will provide you with protection for more than a few weeks at the most??? Even if the police are nearby when you are accosted again, what makes you think that he/she/they will immediately come to your aid? The police do not have a duty or legal responsibility to protect a citizen. Their duty and legal responsibility is to uphold the law. If officer safety is in question, the police will wait until it is safe for them to proceed.
My last post said that cooperation between the police and citizens in a community drastically reduces crime. It doesn't completely eliminate it.

When you look at the data in
When you look at the data in locations where gun laws have been liberalized, and where they have not, they have one thing in common - the violent crime rate has dropped since 1993. This is due to better policing, more community involvement, and longer sentences for violent offenders.
The gun control people have it wrong when they say liberalizing gun laws will lead to shoot outs in the streets. The gun advocates have it wrong when they say that liberalizing gun laws reduces crime. The biggest impacts on crime are policing, economic stability, drugs, and gang activity. We saw that the huge spikes in crime we saw in the 60s, 70s and into the 80s were related to drugs and gangs. In the 90s, there was a focus on getting gangs and other violent offenders off the streets and preventing them from getting off easy - it worked in reducing crime. This has been seen universally and not just in states where shall issue laws have been implemented.
Even when gun laws are liberalized most people won't carry. Unless people are going to commit to training with their weapon and to implementing proper safety procedures, they shouldn't carry in the first place.
Guns are not the savior or the demon that people make them out to be.

The idea that democrats are the most racist is an old canard. In 1964 when the civil rights act passed, many sothern democrat racists became republican. For example, Strom Thurmond became a republican in 1964 as did others. Herman Russell the lead southern racist democrat boycotted the democractic convention in 1964, and was effectively stripped of all his senatorial power. For those that stayed in the democratic party, they were almost universally replaced by republicans. The southern democrat racists don't exist anymore and haven't for more than 40 years.
Look at Jesse Helms and others if you need some history on what happened to other conservative and racist democrats in the south. JH took longer to move over to the GOP, but he did so in the early 1970s.

Coulter did not name any Democrats in the present who are members of the KKK.
All white Democrats are, if not in fact at least in spirit. Proof of this is in their support of programs that make black people and other minorities dependent on the government instead of being able to become wealthy through work and investing.
