One man was left dead and another fled the scene after their plot to rob a South Carolina couple went awry.

Frank Frazier Jr., 23, and his unnamed accomplice claimed they were selling a vehicle in a Craigslist ad. But when the couple arrived, the two men pulled their guns and demanded money, media reports say.

The woman drew her own weapon and shot Frazier, who was pointing his gun at her boyfriend. The 23-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, Associated Press reported.

The other man fled the scene and is still being sought by police. Witnesses told officers that a black male wearing a gray hoody was seen leaving on foot.

The incident occurred in Aiken, South Carolina, at around 1 p.m. Nov. 25. Aiken County Sheriff’s Office received two reports of shots being fired.

Captain Eric Abdullah told WJBF that deputies reached the couple at a gas station. They then informed police about the shooting.

The two victims were unharmed during the incident. Their identities have not been revealed.

An autopsy of Frazier’s body is due Nov. 27.
