Brady Campaign: Weak Gun Laws Killed Trayvon Martin
WASHINGTON -- Brady Campaign President Dan Gross issued the following statement in response to the shooting and killing of unarmed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman, a concealed carry permit holder who was armed with a 9mm semi-automatic pistol.
"Make no mistake: This tragic shooting represents the National Rifle Association's vision for America. The NRA's vision is an America that looks just like Florida, where it's easy for criminals and dangerous people to get, carry, and use guns. The NRA wants us to be a nation without any gun laws, a nation where just about anybody can get a gun and take it anywhere. Their leaders and spokespeople use fear, paranoia and misleading notions of self-defense to justify flooding our streets with armed and violent people, and the result is more tragedies like Trayvon's.
Trayvon's life has been lost not because of an accident, but because of the easy access to a gun by a violent person permitted by a state with weak gun laws. It is time we stand up to the NRA and the politicians who put the agenda of the gun lobby ahead of the safety of the people they have been elected to represent. It is time that we as a nation flatly reject the vision of the gun industry and replace it with the vision where our young people can grow up without the fear and tragedy of gun violence."

Hello! I think it is right that the government takes responsibility for this fatal accident, because strict gun laws might help to prevent it. The government should provide proper conditions and legal support in order to make the life in the society safer, that means that free access to guns should not be allowed.

The Brady Camp, and anti gun nuts in general, are creating dead, beaten and raped victims every day in this country. They do this by convincing YOU that by YOU not carrying a gun to defend yourself that somehow you are contributing to reducing crime. But, are YOU a criminal? If YOU carried a gun would you suddenly lose your mind and go on a killing rampage?
The Brady camp knows that there are violent criminals out there. And they know if these criminals somehow target YOUR family like they do so many others in this country that YOU will be defenseless by listening to their rhetoric and their false statistics.
Are YOU naive enough and ignorant enough to give YOUR life up, and your families lives up, to some crack head criminal who doesn't care in the least if he bashes in your sons skull or rapes your daughter and butchers her afterward....just to win points with the Brady camp nuts?
Is YOUR family so worthless to you that you will let some man like Paul Helmke or Dan Gross tell YOU that you can't be trusted with a tool to defend your family from these predators?
Why do you let Brady tell you how YOU will behave if you own a gun? Why do you let them allow YOU to let YOUR family be unprotected just so THEY can spew out feel good rhetoric so even bigger idiots than you will continue to support them?
What does Brady lose or gain if YOU listen to their idiocy and YOUR wife is raped when she could have saved herself by simply having a gun ?

No one wants to admit that the Brady camp MAKES dead victims. They CREATE raped women. They FACILITATE defenseless prey who are beaten, raped, robbed, stabbed, shot....murdered.
And they do it because YOU let them because YOU are too much of a hive mind drone that you can't think and reason for yourself. Do you think Paul Helmke or Dan Gross gives a rats rear about YOUR wife...YOUR son...YOUR daughter? No...he doesnt.
All the Brady Camp cares about is making sure YOU are DEFENSELESS. To them if you are murdered...if your wife is savagely raped and beaten to death....if you son is ripped apart by some lunatic with a knife, all Brady sees is that you are one more statistic. Gun rights groups are fighting for YOUR RIGHT to DEFEND yourself even if YOU don't presently understand that fact. Gun rights advocates want YOU to have the POWER to PROTECT yourself...your wife...your daughters and your sons...even if you cant accept that fact. You may call us gun nuts. You may think we are paranoid. But the fact is that there are millions of defenseless victims in the USA every year. Will your wife be one of them tomorrow? Will your family? You may not think so but crime happens every day...and it happens to someone just like you and me. Will YOU be next? And if you are can you do anything to stop it? Honestly?

Trayvon Martin was not killed by weak gun laws where criminals can easily get a gun; EVERYWHERE no matter HOW oppressive the gunlaws, criminals get guns. Draconian gunlaws simply prevent law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves---which is exactly what these statists want! They don't care about the victims except when it serves their purpose.
George Zimmerman was not (and until properly convicted in a court of law and not court of public opinion made to order by the press) a criminal UNTIL he chose (if that is what happened) to pursue and confront Martin and then shoot him. The facts are not all in and so I will await a proper trial unlike others.
BUT, assuming for a moment that he IS in fact guilty, that does not make other CCW holders criminals. Nir can we assume that each CCW holder will act similarly. If Zimmerman IS guilty, he is not protected by the Florida Stand your gorund law or the by the CCW law under FS 790. In fact, Martin himself would have been protected by these laws if he had killed the one pursuing HIM.
But TITLE 18 USC CH 44 also known as the GCA 1968 prevents anyone under 21 from purchasing handguns and anyone under 18 from purchasing longguns or carrying ANY firearms anywhere in the US.
Prior to that when I was a kid, I could as a 10-year-old, order a Winchester or Marlin rifle and have it delivered to my home by US Mail. That was common and was never a problem. Kids owned guns--ooooooh my!
The Brady Bunch would disarm everyone--EXCEPT GOVERNMENT of course! due process means nothing to them. Every person not acting for the government is potentially a problem and so no one but those acting for government can be armed! My or anyone's rights mean nothing to them--ony their statist desires to ensure only government has guns.
But who will protect us from our "protectors", hmmm?
Martin's death is tragic....but the loss of individual liberty,is even more so, and hopefully his legacy will not be a further spiriling down into despotism!
