Barry Smitherman, who was appointed Chairman of the Texas Railroad Commission by Texas Governor Rick Perry, recently tweeted (below) a hanging noose and the names of the 16 Republicans who voted for cloture to allow the gun control package to be voted on in the U.S. Senate, reports Salon.com.

The tweet states: "Make sure none of these people have seats in 2014" and includes the word "TREASON."

According to the Dallas Observer, the image in the tweet was originally tweeted by the website PsychoticScrivener.com (PsychScriv on Twitter), which includes several references to the threat of "Big Brother" and is very pro-gun.

Neither Smitherman or Governor Perry have issued a statement about the tweet (below).
