Police in Colleyville, Texas, shot at a 32-year-old man who was reportedly stabbing himself this morning.
According to NBC Dallas-Fort Worth, the man's mother called 911 and told authorities that her son was using a large knife in an attempted suicide.
Colleyville police said they fired a Taser at the man and then a bullet to stop him from killing himself.
Earlier reports said the man had actually been shot by police, but WFAA reports that doctors at John Peter Smith Hospital, where the man was taken, say he was not shot.
The suicidal man was eventually subdued by a second Taser that was deployed by an officer.
In response to the incident, the Colleyville police said in a statement, "State law allows law enforcement officers to use force to stop a person from committing suicide—so long as their actions are intended to save a life, as in this case."
