Country singer Tim McGraw is headlining "A Concert for Sandy Hook Promise" on July 17 in Hartford, Connecticut.
The show will also include Chase Bryant and Billy Currington, and some surprise guests.
The money from the concert will be going to Sandy Hook Promise, a group that was created after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, which ended 20 lives in December 2012, noted NBC Connecticut.
Dean Brown, who is a member of McGraw’s touring band, is a friend of Mark Barden, the dad of Daniel Barden, one of the victims of the massacre committed by Adam Lanza.

According to Boot.com, McGraw said in a statement:
Out of this tragedy, a group was formed that made a promise to honor the lives lost and turn it into a moment of transformation. Sandy Hook Promise teaches that we can do something to protect our children from gun violence. I want to be a part of that promise — as a father and as a friend.
However, some pro-gun conservative websites are skewering McGraw for his participation in the concert.

TopRightNews.com added, "If you are shocked that country superstar McGraw is a gun-hater, don’t be. McGraw is a big Obama fan and has already announced his support of Hillary Clinton."
TheTruthaboutGuns.com blared this headline, "Country Singer Tim McGraw Raising Money for Civilian Disarmament."
Breitbart.com claimed, "Gun control renders law-abiding citizens defenseless, but it does nothing to stop criminals from carrying out their treachery. Because of this, the money McGraw and Currington raise will ultimately succeed in making it harder for law-abiding citizens to acquire and carry the guns they need for self-defense."
The Sandy Hook Promise website states its mission:
Protect children from gun violence so no other parent experiences the loss of their child by engaging and empowering parents and communities with targeted prevention programs in the areas of mental wellness early-identification & intervention, social & emotional development and firearm safety & security. Help our community through this tragedy by providing resources and programs that foster connection, resiliency and overall wellness.
