Open Carry Gun Advocates Harass Texas Lawmaker (Video)

Pro-gun demonstrators from Open Carry Tarrant County lobbied lawmakers at the Texas Capitol in Austin today in an effort to convince them to support the Texas Constitutional Carry Act of 2015, which would allow the open carry of handguns without a permit.

The gun activists entered the office of State Rep. Poncho Nevarez (D), who politely declined their advocacy.

However, the lobbying quickly turned ugly when some of the gun advocates began harassing Nevarez (pictured).

Nevarez asked them to leave his office, but some initially refused (video below).

“As far as I’m concerned, you’re a tyrant to the Constitution of the United States of America,” said one of the gun protesters, noted

“You won’t be here long bro," added another protester. "We the people are coming to take Texas back.”

Nevarez repeatedly asked the protesters to leave his office, but one of them responded, “I’m asking you to leave my state because you don’t take your oath seriously."

One gun protester seemed to threaten a member of Nevarez's staff.

“What are you gonna do, touch me or something?" said the gun advocate. "Creeping up behind me? That’d be one wrong move bro."

According to the Dallas Morning News, Open Carry Texas leader CJ Grisham condemned Open Carry Tarrant County on Facebook and Twitter, “I am so pissed at the actions of people today inside the Capitol. Totally counterproductive and unprofessional."

“Make no mistake, expanding open carry is simply an attempt by the gun lobby to make it acceptable for anyone to open carry guns everywhere, no questions asked,” Moms Demand Action (a gun safety group) volunteer Claire Elizabeth said in a statement. “This is not the Texas we want to raise our families in.”
