Omaha, Nebraska Woman Holds Would-Be Robber At Gunpoint Until Police Arrive (Video)

A would-be burglary suspect in Nebraska chose the wrong home to break into early Tuesday morning.

Barbara Haley and her dog, Dozer, woke up to strange noises in their Omaha home around 3 a.m.

She and the 8-year-old pit bull mix almost stopped searching the house until they heard a crash.

“There in my closet, there were two hands coming out of the closet and he said, ‘Please don't hurt me. Please don't hurt me. I just am thirsty. I just wanted something to drink,’” she told WOWT 6 News. “And I said, 'No, I have a gun and I will shoot you.'”

Haley and Dozer continued to hold off the criminal, holding a .45 ACP handgun on him until police arrived.

"I told him, 'Don’t move. I will blow your f-ing head off,'" Haley told Omaha.com in an interview.

Jody Kudlacz, 24, had allegedly ransacked the room, stacking clothes, gift cards and jewelry, presumably to steal them.

IJ Review notes that Haley’s husband was out of town on a trip and before leaving he showed her how to take their handgun out of the holster. Haley says she didn’t think she would need to use it in a “million years,” and that she’s “not a gun person.”

Kudlacz was arrested and charged with burglary and his bond was set at $75,000.
