An elderly man in Houston, Texas, shot and injured a suspect who was allegedly trying to steal a trailer parked in front of his home.

Jimmy Rotan, 75, confronted the thief after he noticed him backing up to the utility trailer, KTRK reported. The suspect then attempted to drive away, but crashed into a ditch. The incident happened around 10 a.m. April 16 in northeast Houston.

Sometime during the attempted theft, Rotan opened fire on the thief and shot him in the arm, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office. He held the suspect at gunpoint until police arrived.

The wounded man was then taken to Ben Taub Hospital. Although his condition is unknown, he is expected to recover, according to KHOU. No charges have been filed in the case.
