A Houston man was reportedly shot in the face after he tried to pry a loaded gun out of an infant’s hands.
Patrick Sanders, 20, was reportedly napping on the couch in the living room of his apartment Saturday morning when a gun he had placed in his pocket slipped out and landed on the floor, reports Houston Press.
When he woke up, he reportedly found the gun in the hands of a three-month-old boy -- though it should be mentioned that various news outlets, including WPVI-TV, are reporting that the child was a 3-year-old preschooler, and not a baby.
Police say Sanders then moved swiftly to take the gun from the child and that it went off while he was doing so and shot the young man in the face.
The child was not injured, according to police. It is unclear whether Sanders is the boy's father or, if not, how they are related.
Sanders is reportedly in critical condition at Ben Taub General Hospital.
