Man Points Gun At Cat In Disturbing Facebook Post, Says He Shot It Twice

| by Sarah Fruchtnicht

Authorities are searching for a Florida man who posted a picture of himself holding up a cat by its neck and pointing a gun at it on Facebook.

Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for Thomas McGuinness, who also posted images of himself pointing a gun at a dog and at himself.

In a follow-up post McGuinness wrote: "Don't know why everybody so mad about a cat we only shot it twice."

"That's a confession, where I come from if we found a dead cat," said Charlotte County Animal Control spokesman Brian Jones.

"I don't really want to look at that. I find it disturbing," Sharon Thomas, Exec. Director of Animal Welfare League, told WZTV. "To see something like that it just turns my stomach."

“It angers us beyond belief,” said Jones.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s office says there is a possible case of animal cruelty. Anyone with information on McGuiness is asked to call Charlotte County Animal Control at 941-833-5690.

"It's a case of interest, and we just want to prove that the animals are okay and that he's okay, that's it," Jones said.

According to WBBH-TV, the post has since been taken down.
